Colorado Provençal

"Colorado Provençal" is the Far West in Provence!

Walking in Colorado Provençal is a fascinating experience to live. Escape and change of scenery guaranteed, 15km from the Luberon Lub'heureux villa!

These canyon-like landscapes were sculpted by human hands, at the time when this natural site was exploited as an ocher quarry (from 1871). Erosion continues to take care of changing them little by little. Orange ocher dunes, cliffs and peaks of white or red ocher, fairy chimneys ... there are two hiking trails to choose from, which are available to you to stroll through this western landscape of more than 30 ha, and make a real photo safari!
  • The Sahara circuit is THE emblematic Colorado Provençal promenade, simple and suitable for all audiences. 2.1 km or 40 minutes (non-stop, round trip to the car park), easy level, elevation 10 meters. Memorable!
  • The Belvedere circuit, meanwhile, overlooks the entire site and offers a dominant view, after first allowing us to visit the Sahara. 3.9km or 1h45 (non-stop, round trip to the car park), easy to medium level, with 70m of elevation differences and some fairly simple obstacles to cross on the marked path.

Consider putting on sneakers or hiking shoes that you agree to color with ocher, a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen and water! Paid shaded parking on site, with picnic area.

Leaving the Colorado Provençal site, a little detour to the village of Rustrel and its 17th century castle?

The road to Colorado Provençal from the Luberon Lub'heureux holiday rentals is beautiful. The plain of Sylla with its hills and hamlets up to the village of Saint-Saturnin-les-Apt, then the fields of lavender and olive trees between Villars and Rustrel, overlooking the peaks of the Great Mountain. You may decide to stop by the side of the road several times to take pictures!
